Exchange matches have now been released. Please read carefully to understand what applies to you:

If you received a match

• Your match is final. No changes or alternate placements are possible.
• To confirm, log into Passport and ACCEPT or DECLINE your match by January 13, 2026 at 3:59 p.m.
• If you decline or do not respond by the deadline, you will be withdrawn from the exchange program.

If you did not receive a match

• Students with matches are currently accepting or declining. This may open up spaces.
• Schools with remaining spots will be posted on January 14.
• You may update your application by emailing studyabroad@uwaterloo.ca with your new ranked choices by January 19.
• We will attempt to match unmatched students again on January 21 and notify you of the outcome that day.

We understand this process may feel disappointing or stressful, and we appreciate the care you’ve put into your application. Please take time to reflect on your options and reach out if you have questions before the deadlines.

FYI for students considering exchange to Australia

Please note that the standard Australian student visa fee has recently increased to AUD $2,000. If you are planning to apply for an exchange in Australia, be sure to factor this into your budget when preparing for your application and overall exchange costs.
